Cypress Environmental Consulting – Houston, TX

- Utilize ArcGIS Pro to manage data and produce high-quality figures and field maps for use in cultural and natural resources projects

- Create and edit water feature polygons based on GPS field data points; populate attributes and calculate geometries for use in wetland delineation reports

- Develop custom GIS tools in ModelBuilder to expedite routine workflows; introduce new geoprocessing tools to the team

- Authored original documents to aid in the training of future GIS staff and ensure consistency across data and deliverables

- Georeference images for use in GIS projects when existing spatial data was not available, ensuring accurate alignment

- Create maps using data from a variety of publicly available sources including FEMA, USFWS, and EPA

- Maintained detailed patient care records; designed new intake forms and treatment logs to increase efficiency and improve data management system

- Collaborated with hospital staff to develop treatment plans for unique animal cases, often in high-stress situations that required creative solutions

- Trained and supervised interns and volunteers to ensure safe handling of wildlife and adherence to all hospital protocols

- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills during frequent interactions with members of the public over the phone, in-person, and when responding to email inquiries

- Engaged with guests and community members to educate on native and invasive bird populations and FKWBC's mission

Avian Care Intern (December 2019 - August 2020)

Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center – Tavernier, FL

- Demonstrated proper handling and restraint of a variety of songbirds, raptors, shorebirds, and pelagic birds

- Triaged patients upon intake; calculated and administered medications and fluids using PO, SQ, and IM techniques; participated in wound care, stabilization of fractures, and daily monitoring of patient condition

- Extensive experience hand-rearing songbirds; some experience with young raptors

- Preparation of diets for all species; experience hand feeding, force feeding, and tube feeding (including gavage)

- Daily husbandry of resident birds at sanctuary; cleaning of enclosures, feeding, providing enrichment

- Use of fecal ova floats to identify internal parasites

Horticulture Intern (June 2018 - August 2018)

John G. Shedd Aquarium – Chicago, IL

- Planned and conducted experiments to study the effects of soil composition on nutrient density in produce

- Used a refractometer to obtain Brix measurements and assess sugar content of juice extracted from plant tissue samples

- Collected data and analyzed results for patterns and statistical significance 

- Independently compiled findings into a final report and orally presented to Shedd interns and staff

Urban Wildlife Intern (June 2017 - August 2017)

Urban Wildlife Institute at the Lincoln Park Zoo – Chicago, IL

- Actively participated in data collection for several ongoing wildlife research projects including population monitoring of Black-crowned Night Herons (BCNH), trapping of freshwater turtles for a mark-recapture study, and small-mammal trapping

- Completed an independent data analysis project examining changes in the size and nesting locations of the BCNH population over several years and gave a final oral presentation of results to LPZ Conservation & Science department

- Collaborated with a small team to efficiently complete daily tasks and problem solve when working in the field 

- Maintained a high level of organization during data collection in the field and later data entry in office

Book Buddy (October 2016 - May 2019)

SitStayRead – Chicago, IL

- Weekly volunteer at Chicago area elementary schools with a local 501 (c)3 non-profit organization 

- Led small groups of 2nd grade students through fluency exercises and structured brainstorming sessions to help improve reading comprehension, fluency, and writing abilities

- Managed the finances of a new and growing organization for women in technical fields at DePaul University 

- Oversaw biannual collection of member dues, transfer of fees to the national organization, collection of profits from fundraisers, and management of the organization’s bank account
